Valentine mixed media canvas

If you stopped by the Love My Tapes booth at CHA, you might have seen this canvas.  :)

After preparing my background, I applied several designs of fabric and lace tapes in repeating stripes.  Having the self-adhesive tapes made it so easy to get everything to stay exactly where I wanted it, especially when I sealed the entire canvas with a gel medium top coat at the end.

For the dimensional hearts, I placed the fabric sheets on chipboard, then die-cut the shapes.  Sticking the fabric to the chipboard first makes sure that you will get perfect alignment - so much easier than trying to die cut them separately!

Thanks for visiting,
JJ

Valentine Card - Ruby Rock-it

I made this card for the new Ruby Rock-it "Vintedge" collection.  I love the versatility of this line (and I love the dark reds a lot).  Don't forget to visit the blog this week (and especially over the CHA week) - lots of inspiration, and you never know what will be posted live from CHA.

For the keyhole plate, I first adhered the patterned paper to a piece of raw chipboard, then I put them through my sizzix in one go - it gives a much better result than passing the paper and chipboard separately.

(PS - trying out a different size for the photo today.  Let me know what you think - too big?)

Supplies (Ruby Rock-it):
PP, key sticker, mini letters, twine - new "Vintedge" collection

Other Supplies:
CS - Bazzill
ink - Ranger
other - sewing thread, raw chipboard sheet

Bowties are Cool

This week on the Ruby Rock-it blog, the design team is showcasing the versatility of the new "Vintedge" collection.  There's also a giveaway to enter - get all the details on this post.

Doctor Who is a big favorite at my house.  Even though my son has never seen the show, he has taken a liking to bowties (all on his own - no prompting from me), and was super excited to get a new one.  Of course I had to document that, and the anglophile imagery in parts of this collection were perfect for my page.

I die-cut a couple of extra gears to match the ones in the papers:

I love to combine minis with chipboard for larger titles:

Some of the silly 'out takes'.  :)  Little Miss didn't want to be left out of the action.

And the story:

It's Not a Dinosaur! - Love My Tapes

I created this layout for Love My Tapes, to showcase how well the tapes work on 'boy' pages.  I love how this turned out.  I've scrapped these photos before, and I was never satisfied with the outcome.  Now I'm happy.  ;)

See - you CAN use lace on boy pages.  Being 'chose-y' helps.  :)

Don't worry - I'm not coming over to the dark side of banners...  it's just what 'worked' here.   I do think it was kind fun to try it once...

The wood shapes from Studio Calico were a good, neutral match for the tapes - I want to use these again.

I added a die-cut piece of fabric from the 'anchors' fabric sheet.  And the ink splats were just for fun.

Supplies (Love My Tapes):
fabric tape - blue stripe (FT020 Silverton), red stripe (FT020 Royal), Olivia (FT007), Jane (FT011), Chocolate mini-check (FT015)Mix mini-check (FT018)
lace tape - 17mm beige (LT2004)
fabric sheet - anchor on beige

Other Supplies:
PP - Basic Grey
letter stickers - October Afternoon (lg), Cosmo Cricket (sm)
wood embellishments - Studio Calico
acrylic ink - Liquitex
ink - Ranger
marker - Faber-Castell PITT pen
other - paper-wrapped wire

Waiting for the Hurricane

One of my last projects for Tattered Angels.  We had to take inspiration from our fellow teammates for this assignment, and for this page I took some ideas from Peg Hewitt.  I love how she layers stencils.

I used a bunch of different stencils from The Crafter’s Workshop and Prima, and a pile of mists (Latte, Tattered Leather, Black Magic, Silver Sugar, Olive Vine, Vintage Pink, Red-nosed Reindeer, and French Vanilla Chalkboard).  (The adorable thundercloud is from Kimmieprout).

These Prima flowers are so pretty; and more awesome fimo embellies from Kimmieprout:

The story...

Supplies:
PP - Bo Bunny
letters, flowers - Prima Marketing
fimo embellishments - Boutique Kimmieprout
glimmer mist - Tattered Angels
masks/stencils - The Crafters Workshop, Prima Marketing (bricks), $ store (letters)
washi tape - Hambly Screenprints
marker - Faber-Castell PITT pen

Treat Time - Ruby Rock-it NEW release!

Well hello there - Happy New Year! Finally getting back in to the routine after the holidays, and that means getting back to my blog as well. I've be working on lots of projects - most of which I can't show until closer to CHA, but they will definitely show up here around that time.

And speaking of CHA, this layout features the brand new 'Nostalgia' line from Ruby Rock-it, which is debuting at CHA later this month. The design team is showing off the new lines all month over at the Ruby Rock-it blog, and there are prizes available to be won for joining in on the party - so don't forget to hop on over there and check it out!

Yup - these cute little letter stickers are in the Nostalgia collection as well. :)

This yummy twine had such a nice texture to it.  I love that it's thick and easy to manipulate.

Thanks for visiting!
